LAW ENFORCERS arrested two individuals and seized about P2 million in alleged smuggled cigarettes along the checkpoint in Barangay Eden at dawn of October 31.
Captain John Louie Dema-ala, spokesperson of Task Force Davao, said said the vehicle of Kinsar Asduri, 36, married, and Alhapids Isnang, 24, married, both of Km 11, Sasa, yielded 4,250 reams of smuggled Bros Menthol cigarettes when it was inspected.
Asduri was driving a van while Isnang was his passenger.
The checkpoint, supervised both by members of the task force as well as cops, was one of the two border control points, the other in Malagos, established last year to check on vehicles entering the city.
The suspects were to face criminal complaints for violating the Tariff and Customs Code of the Philippines.
