2 arrested at checkpoints for gun and drug possession

AUTHORITIES arrested two individuals allegedly sneaking shabu and guns while passing through the checkpoints in Barangay Lacson, Calinan District, and Barangay Lasang, Bunawan District on Oct. 3 and 4.

Task Force Davao spokesperson Captain John Louie Dema-ala said authorities manning the Lasang entry point seized a pack of suspected shabu worth P2,880 from Bryle Basay Asuncion, 29, a resident of Purok 4, San Juan, Maco, Davao De Oro.

Asuncion was on board a public utility bus traveling toward Davao City at around 4:40 a.m. on Oct. 4.

Also arrested at Brgy Lacson checkpoint in Calinan District on Tuesday, Oct. 3 was 

Meanwhile, Genesis Padilla Bacus, 44, a resident of Purok 17, CMU Musuan, Dologon, Maramag, Bukidnon, was on board a black Ford Raptor bearing plate number KAD 3064 traveling toward the city when intercepted by the authorities at the Lacson checkpoint on Oct. 3. 

The security team reportedly found a .40 caliber pistol bearing serial number W51271 with two magazines, and 50 bullets from his possession.

Task Force Davao commander Colonel Darren  Comia lauded the troops who made the apprehensions for their continued commitment to ensuring that no illegal items and contraband would enter Davao City.

For now, the suspects and the evidence were turned over to Bunawan and Calinan police stations for proper disposition.
