14,000 food packs for quake victims distributed on Dec. 21

A total of 14,000 relief goods is ready for distribution this coming Dec. 21 to the earthquake-affected residents in Mindanao.

The relief goods will be delivered to Kidapawan, Matanao, Makilala in North Cotabato, and Magsaysay, Hagonoy, Matanao, Kibalawan, and Padada, in Davao del Sur.

Speaking in yesterday’s AFP- PNP press briefing held at The Royal Mandaya hotel, Task Force Davao commander, Col. Consolito Yecla, said the relief goods consist of food packs, which include rice and canned goods.

He said they have no specific list of families that will benefit from the food packs.

“But we are still coordinating with the local government unit of those affected areas because as a directive, the should be delivered to the evacuation center,” he said.

He also said there are also non-food items that will be distributed.

Meanwhile, rescuers on Tuesday started to drill into the collapsed three-story grocery store as no more signs of life were detected under the wreckage of South Green Marketing in Padada, Davao del Sur.
The third body was retrieved at 9:57 p.m. Monday.

Emily Galyegos Beloy, a 31-year-old grocery cashier, was the one who texted a friend that she and five others were trapped inside the building right after the earthquake that hit the province Sunday afternoon.
