1,400 Strong: Participants conquer Davao’s Family Fun Run Plus 1 in a heartwarming celebration of unity

MORE THAN 1,400 participants joined the Family Fun Run organized by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints held at the Davao City Coastal Road in Bago Aplaya on Sep. 28, 2024. 

Supporters conquered the 3K and 5K categories, divided into individuals, groups, and families. 

Personnel from the Davao City Police Office, the Bureau of Fire Protection, Task Force Davao, the City Transport and Traffic Management Office, and the City Environment and Natural Resources Office were in their posts to assist and ensure the safety of the participants, who arrived as early as 4 a.m.

The culminating activity of the weeklong Family Week also included a short program and Zumba. 

The event highlighted the city’s commitment to fostering stronger communities. Among the collaborating organizations, all of whom ensured the event’s success.

Ellaine Torculas emphasized the importance of preparation, mentioning that they organized everything down to their children’s bags to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience.

“We wanted to make sure everything was ready so that we could focus on enjoying the run as a family,” Torculas said.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints also partnered with the City Mayor’s Office, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Mindanao Peace Council, National Commission on Muslim Filipinos, Davao City Water District, and local volunteer groups like KABALIKAT CIVICOM 995 for the fun run.
