A private bus firm reportedly conveyed its willingness to the Davao City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO) on adding 12 more buses for the mobilization of the proposed 24-hour service plan for the Peak Hours Augmentation Bus Services (PHABS) of the city.
Currently, there are seven buses operating in Catalunan Grande and Toril District. The additional buses are said to be sufficient to accommodate the growing numbers of the commuters.
CTTMO chief Dionisio Abude said they are only waiting for the issuance of a special permit from the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB). Once the permit is secured, the buses will be operate for 24 hours in the said areas.
He also assured passengers that they will no longer need to worry when going home late since there will be more buses available for them.
Currently, the augmentation bus service operates only during peak hours which starts at 6:30 a.m. and ends at 9 a.m. then resumes at 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Abude said, Mindanao Star is “willing to extend the operation of the bus in the city” after hearing positive feedbacks from the commuters. The local bus company is currently operating for the PHABS along with the Bachelor Express, LCI Buses, and Davao Metro Shuttle.
According to Abude, all buses running in the city will soon transition into a High Priority Bus System (HPBS), which forms part of the modern transportation plan of the city.
