1001st Infantry Brigade prepares for BKSE 2023

THE 1001ST Infantry Brigade will deploy its troops to secure the upcoming Barangay and Sanggunian and Kabataan Elections on Oct. 30.

The soldiers underwent a seminar designed to empower them on their duties and responsibilities at the headquarters of the 60th Infantry Battalion, Camp Morgia, Doña Andrea, Asuncion, Davao del Norte, on Thursday, Oct, 12.

Lawyer Norliza M. Mamukid, Provincial Election Supervisor IV of Davao del Norte, gave a comprehensive lecture emphasizing the pivotal role of soldiers during the election.

She highlighted the provisions, prohibitions, and restrictions pertinent to election duties of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) as a Comelec deputized agency.

The purpose of the seminar is to guarantee the conduct of free, honest, peaceful, and credible Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections.

Symbolizing this deputization, Mamukid and Brigadier General Ronnie B. Babac, commander of the 1001st Infantry Brigade, distributed IDs to the troops, which they would wear while performing election duties.

In his address, Babac acknowledged the challenges ahead.

“We stand as the guardians of peace and order, ensuring that the democratic process will proceed smoothly and without disruption. Our dedication to upholding the rule of law and maintaining a safe environment for voters to choose their chosen candidates without fear and intimidation,” Babac said.

The brigade commander further emphasized the troops’ obligation to remain apolitical and fair.

“As peacekeepers, we must remain impartial and steadfast in our duty. Uphold the principles of fairness and justice, and ensure that the elections are conducted in an environment free from intimidation and coercion,” he added.
