‘We want more’

  • Baste goads Romualdez to return with greater assistance for Davaoeños

MAYOR Sebastian “Baste” Duterte challenged House Speaker Martin Romualdez to return next month with additional ayuda (government dole-out) for more Davaoeños.

The Mayor made the remark on the latest episode of the “Basta Dabawenyo” Podcast last Sunday.

“Martin, please come back here next month. If you want, we can give you a round of applause. Come back here. It’s still not enough. The assistance you provided here in Davao is still insufficient. Please return again next month,” the mayor said.

“We’ll applaud you. Since you’re such a big deal. You have money, and your program is very impressive. Come back here next month because we still want more,” Duterte added.

“You’re talking about 1.5 billion. I dare you to bring 2.5 billion next month. Come back here because the people of Davao number 1.9 million,” he continued.

“It would also be a pity if you ran for president in the 2028 elections. We don’t know yet. Come back here. Give us more,” he concluded.

Recently, PBA Partylist Rep. Migs Nograles tried to rouse the beneficiaries to thank Romualdez and President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. at the recently held Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair in USEP gym.

Romualdez led the distribution in line with the Cash Assistance and Rice Distribution (CARD), Integrated Scholarships and Incentives Program for the Youth (ISIP) and the Start-Up, Investments, Business Opportunities and Livelihood (SIBOL).

Some 3,000 individuals belonging to vulnerable sectors, including senior citizens, PWDs, and IPs, received P5,000 and 20 kilos of rice.

On Sept. 15, 250 residents of New Washington, Barangay Talomo, Davao City, received free consultations and medicines during a medical mission conducted by the PBA Partylist, in collaboration with the Southern Philippines Medical Center.

Nograles, who personally attended the event held at a private compound in the area, shared that in addition to the medical services, free haircuts and legal consultations were also offered.

Nograles highlighted that this was the 18th medical mission organized by the PBA Partylist in 2024.

During her speech, Nograles extended her gratitude to former Barangay Talomo captain Bendor Calamba for coordinating the event, which was requested by the residents. She emphasized the PBA Partylist’s commitment to meeting the needs of every Davaoeño.
