VICE PRESIDENT Sara Duterte said she will back measures to combat anti-political dynasty law and is willing to author it if given the chance.

After casting her votes in Daniel R. Aguinaldo National High School, the vice president faced the media in a press conference outside the polling center.

Despite coming from the family of politicians, Duterte maintained that people should not support a candidate based on family affiliations.

Ako yung may pinakamalaki at solid ang kredibilidad to speak about political dynasty because I come from a political dynasty. Wala ng mas matindi pang expert sa political dynasty, ako yun,” she added.

Absent a law, she said the most that can be done as voters is to question the capacity and the competence of the candidates.

You should ask the person.

When asked if there’s a limit to the number of family members who can run, she responded that she has yet to craft a law.

To the surprise of no one, the Dutertes dominated the 2025 midterm elections, as five Dutertes–from grandfather to grandsons–achieved landslide victories.

Former President Rodrigo returns as city mayor, while his son, Mayor Sebastian Duterte, is the new vice mayor. Reelectionist Paolo secured his seat in the 1st congressional district, joined by son Omar, as the 2nd district representative.

Rigo, the youngest Duterte, joining the 21st city council as top councilor, said that they will continue serving if Davaoenos sees it fit.
