THE PHILIPPINE National Police (PNP) clarifies that the viral video about police officers no longer needing drug test results is false.
Atty. Eudisan, spokesperson of the PNP Civil Security Group, said the currently circulating video uploaded by Even Demata is false and merely a “cut version” of an interview that took place in August 2024.
“Friends from Davao Media sent me a video posted by a vlogger, Mr. Even Demata; it was a cut version of my interview back in August 2024. I’m calling the attention of Mr. Demata to please do not post a recycled statement, especially if it’s a cut statement; this may cause misinformation. The exemption from drug tests and psychological exams of active PNP and AFP personnel pertains to renewal of firearms licenses only.”
Furthermore, Gultiano appealed to the uploader to not recycle statements, especially those that are cut, because it can cause confusion and misinformation among the public.
He added that the exemption is only applicable to police officers renewing their firearm licenses.
