BUSINESS magnate and former Senate president Manny Villar publicly extended his profound gratitude to Vice President Sara Duterte, attributing her support as a significant factor in the successful senatorial bid of his daughter, Camille Villar.
In a statement, Villar underscored the deep-rooted friendship between the Villar and Duterte families, a bond that he said dates back to 1998.
“Maraming salamat kay Vice President Sara Duterte sa kanyang suporta sa kandidatura ni Camille na isang malaking dahilan sa kanyang pagkapanalo,” Villar said.
He recalled the genesis of their friendship, saying, “Malalim ang pagkakaibigan ng pamilya Villar at Duterte na nagsimula pa ng 1998 noong ako ay speaker at si dating Presidente Digong ay kongresista ng Davao City.”
Villar emphasized that this friendship transcends personal ties, being fundamentally anchored in shared aspirations for national unity and progress.
“Ito ay isang pagkakaibigan na hindi lamang personal kung hindi nakabatay sa aming nagkakaisang pangarap tungo sa pagkakaisa at pag-unlad ng sambayanan,” he explained.
