The vendors along the streets in Davao City started dismantling their stalls as the holiday season comes to end.
Paul Revildo Bermejo, Davao City Ancillary Services Unit (ASU) officer-in-charge, said the vendors voluntarily took down their stalls early in the morning of Jan. 2 per their agreement for a temporary authority to sell on otherwise prohibited areas.
“They started dismantling already. For the restoration of sidewalks, we will make sure that there will be no more vendors in the next days,” Bermejo told TIMES on Wednesday.
The office is set to begin their inspection on Thursday to make sure all the vendors are compliant.
“We will begin our inspection on January 3. Vendors who will resist and delay dismantling their stalls will be warned,” Bermejo added.
The ASU will be first check the areas in Ramon Magsaysay Avenue, San Pedro Street, and Pichon Street.
Bermejo reported that about 60 vendors along Ilustre Street already began dismantling their stalls and cleaning up the area.
There are over 600 vendors in the city, according to Bermejo.
These vendors will no longer be able to display their products and set up their stalls along the streets and sidewalks to ensure the safety of the pedestrians.
