Councilor Al Ryan Alejandre, spokesperson of the executive committee of the festival, told the Davao City Disaster Radio, that the committee will discuss the issue when it meets today after he suggested the proposal.

“All participants, mandated na mag face mask, as of last Wednesday is sa among gina-raise is hopefully all of them are vaccinated. Makita man nato ang eagerness to be vaccinated. So we will tackle that this Wednesday,” Alejandre said, adding that although the committee has yet to decide on the issue, it has encouraged everyone to get inoculated as there are still vaccination sites that will cater to them.

The councilor said the festival is expected to attract more visitors as it is being held in a face-to-face setting since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic and the administration of Mayor Sebastian Duterte is making sure that it is successful.

He added that all events will be held based on the COVID-19 protocols.

City Administrator Francis Mark Layog assured the public that security of those who will attend the festival, particularly visitors, and residents will be the main concern of the city government.

“Dayon gyud ang Kadayawan, mag-wait lang ta sa (The Kadayawan will take place, we will wait for the) alert level system from the national IATF for August. We are optimistic that the Kadayawan will continue as planned with all necessary precautions. The City Health Office (CHO) is also part of our sub-committee,” Layog added.
