THE UNIVERSITY of the Philippines Mindanao marked its 29th anniversary through a series of events from Feb. 12 to March 21, 2024.
During the Kapihan sa PIA at SM Ecoland on Feb. 5, KC Ann Neljane Abella, UPMin senior media production assistant, said they will host events reflecting the university’s commitment to academic excellence, public service, and community engagement and invites everyone to partake in the events.
The anniversary’s activities will begin with a recognition program for students from 2021 to 2023 for their academic achievements and their contributions to UP Mindanao’s legacy of excellence.
Events within the campus such as seminars held on Feb 13-14 by the Interactive Learning Center- Learning Resource Center (ILC-LRC) and a Mental Health Awareness Seminar on Feb 26.
Other seminars include “Mastering the Art of Public Speaking” and “Business Communication and Technical Writing” where participants can enhance their public speaking and writing skills.
Other series of events on the campus include the three-day Feb Fair, Trivia Challenge, 1B Raising Flashmob, Knowledge Fair, Scholarship Fair, and Bloodletting event. The month of March will have the College of Science and Mathematics (CSM) Week and the School of Management (SOM) Week, featuring various research projects, lecture series, and forums.
She also added that the main event on Feb 20 will be graced by Secretary Maria Belen Acosta of the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA).
One of the highlights of the 29th anniversary is the Knowledge Fair which will be held at Abreeza Ayala Malls on Feb 23 to 24.
“The focus of the exhibit is to showcase UP Mindanao and to promote it to the public not only for students but of course to those people na hindi pa naabutan at hindi pa nakilala na may UP dito sa Mindanao,” she said.
