ON TOP of the ongoing pediatric vaccination activities in special sites, all other vaccination hubs in Davao City are still open to cater to eligible adult groups who would avail of the first, second, and booster doses of the anti-COVID vaccines.
The City COVID-19 Task Force assured there are enough anti-Covid vaccines for adults in all vaccination hubs. “Wala pa man ta’y gi-close na mga vaccination hubs for adults (We have not closed any of our vaccination hubs for adults),” said Dr. Michelle Schlosser in an interview over the Davao City Disaster Radio on Wednesday.
She added that the mobile vaccination sites in the barangays are run by the councilors and the door-to-door vaccination by the Office of the Vice Mayor. Meanwhile, drive-thru vaccination at Crocodile Park and the drive-thru vaccination for senior citizens and persons with disabilities are still open at the People’s Park.
Schlosser reported that as of February 24, a total of 1,304,627 first doses were administered and 1,275,415 for the second dose. For booster dose, the city was able to administer 208,389 or 16.34 percent of the fully immunized individuals.
“Dili enough nga fully vaccinated lang ka, dapat gyud naa gyud kay booster. The vaccines utilized by the health cluster and around the world, not only in the Philippines, are proven to be safe and effective (It is not enough that you are fully vaccinated, you should also have a booster. These vaccines utilized by the health cluster and around the world, not only in the Philippines, are proven safe and effective),” Schlosser said.
She noted that the number of fully immunized individuals is increasing but the city would like to see that all the fully vaccinated individuals will get the booster shot as an added layer of protection against the severe risk of coronavirus disease.
“We will not settle for increasing lang, we would want na sana 100 percent pud nato ang booster doses sa fully vaccinated na (We will not settle for just an increasing trend, we would want that 100 percent of the fully vaccinated will also get the booster,” Schlosser said.
Meanwhile, Schlosser said the city government may adopt the latest Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases’ mandatory requirement to present the vaccination card in establishments in areas placed under the Alert Level 1 areas. Davao City is currently on Alert Level 1 status until March 15.
She added that the city is already preparing an Executive Order that will specify the allowed activities and restrictions under Alert Level 1.
