Two suspects identified by PDEA XI as big fishes

Operatives caught two alleged big-time drug dealers in a buy-bust conducted at the main road of Doña Vicenta Village in Bajada at 5:05 p.m. on Wednesday.

The suspects were identified by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency XI as June Ardi Lopez and Arlin Gabayan Anastacio.

They were arrested after they reportedly sold three large sachets of suspected shabu to the poseur-buyer. The drugs weighed 15 grams with an estimated street value of P75,000.

After frisking, they found large- and medium-sized sachets weighing more or less 55 grams from the suspects with a street value of P825,000. Also recovered from them was the buy-bust money, which will also be used as evidence in the charge against the suspects.

Nephi Noli Dimaandal, the spokesperson of the PDEA XI, said the two were new drug players based on their investigation.

“They were placed under surveillance for about a month,” he said. “They will also go on a supply run to replenish their stocks.”

He said a concerned citizen first tipped them off their hotline number, which prompted them to monitor the movements of the suspects. The buy-bust was conducted by joint elements of the Davao City Office and Seaport Interdiction Unit of the PDEA XI and the National Bureau of Investigation XI.

The suspects will be charged for violation of Section 26 in relation to Section 5 (Attempt or Conspiracy) and Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs), of Republic Act 9165 or The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

P50-K worth of
shabu recovered

Meanwhile, about P50,000 worth of shabu was seized when Reynaldo Alderite, 33, and a resident of Purok 4, Trading, Barangay 37-D., was arrested at the checkpoint in Barangay Sirawan, Toril District on Wednesday.

Col. Consolito Yecla, the Task Force Davao commander, said the suspect was driving a red TM150 motorcycle with plate number LD 74766 from Barangay Binugao going to Barangay Eden, Toril.

The checkpoint personnel asked for the quarantine pass and the ID from the suspect when he dropped a folded calendar paper. The law enforcers reportedly noticed that he was uneasy so they told him to get off so they could conduct a thorough inspection.

They found sachets of shabu weighing 3.17 grams from the pockets of Alderite.

“We commend the professionalism of the TF Davao personnel manning the checkpoints in supporting the President’s war on drugs,” Yecla said.

The said suspect and recovered items were properly turned over to the Toril Police Station for the filing of violation of RA 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of the Philippines).
