THE TRIBAL Village featuring 11 tribes will once again open its doors to the public for the Kadayawan Festival next month.
The Tribal Village showcases the 11 different tribal houses of the six Moro tribes: Tausug, Maguindanaon, Iranun, Kagan, Maranao, and Sama and five Lumad tribes: Klata, Ata, Ubo Manuvo, Matigsalog, and Tagabawa.
During the iSpeak forum on July 25, Davao City Tourism Operations Office head Jennifer Romero said, “The experience will not only cater to our visitors but also to the Davaoeños can also be immersed sa mga food and products nga gina offer sa atong 11 tribes,” she said.
When asked to describe the significance of their participation, Maguindanaon deputy mayor Gabriel Nakan replied, “Walay Kadayawan kung wala mi mga tribo.”
Kadayawan festival is celebrated every August of the year, featuring different cultures and giving thanks for the bountiful harvest.
The village will formally open on Aug. 8 and end on Aug. 18 at Magsaysay Park, featuring the Pananaw sa Kadayawan food and products fair. The Tribal Village allows people to experience each tribe’s unique culture and tradition fulfilling their desire to have a taste of delicious cuisines and marvel at their craftsmanship and artistry.
