‘Topakk’ to be showcased at Metro Manila Film Festival

THE INTERNATIONALLY acclaimed Filipino action thriller Film Topakk is officially set to release at theatres as part of the 50th Metro Manila Film Festival on Dec 25.

Topakk”, also known as “Triggered“, premiered at the 78th Cannes Film Festival in May 2023 and was also screened at the 76th Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland last Aug 2023. The film will be starring Arjo Atayde, Julia Montes, Enchong Dee, Sid Lucero, Kokoy De Santos along with the supporting cast.

Arjo Atayde, the actor who plays Miguel, shared in a press conference on Dec 8 that this film is about dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and how it affects the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) in real life.

He also added that the film is about humanity with all the characters being important to Miguel despite the PTSD that his character experiences. This lesson also brings color to the film that shows not action but love, hope, and courage thainstillsls fellow Filipinos.

Topakk” producer Sylvia Sanchez highlighted that the title Topakk was chosen because it refers to the trigger effect of mental health in a person.

Sanchez also expressed her thoughts proudly on the film for leveling up the action and the acting as she commended the cast for their performances.

Directed by Richard V. Somes, “Topakk” will be rated R-16 and a running time of 1 hr and 53m.
