Top drug target killed after allegedly firing gun at arresting cop

A REGIONAL-LEVEL target was killed in a buy-bust operation conducted by the Sasa police along Litchon Road, Km. 10, Barangay Sasa at 8:19 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan.17.

Meanwhile, police also recovered P300,000 worth of shabu at the scene.

Davao City Police Office spokesperson Captain Hazel Tuazon identified him as Nelson Maglaro Semilla, 35, single, construction worker, and a resident of Fatima Village, Matina.

Semilla was considered a top 5 high-value target operating in Sasa, Angliongto, and nearby areas.

Moreover, she said the suspect was previously arrested for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) last January 2021 and released last September 2022 through plea bargaining.

According to the report, the undercover agent was about to arrest the suspect after successfully completing the buy-bust in exchange for P1,000. However, Semilla allegedly pulled out his gun from his sling bag and shot at the officer who then retaliated.

The suspect was brought to Southern Philippines Medical Center but was declared dead on arrival.

The Regional Forensic Unit XI found a Colt .45 loaded with three live bullets, a fired cartridge case from a .9mm caliber pistol; and two fired cartridge cases from a .45 caliber pistol.
