TIMESMAN: SM smart moves

WHOEVER is that guy from SM City Pampanga that introduced SM Cinema Drive-in should be hired byPresident Duterte as cabinet secretary. The guy is brilliant but most important is, he cannot be corrupted (maybe!- LDT).

The COVID-19 has wrought havoc to everyone all over the world. The government has introduced remedies to help minimize the effect of the virus to one’s health – stay at home, physical distancing and constant hand washing. But it seems the deadly disease cannot be controlled and continues to be more dangerous as reports of the number of people infected and the mortality rate are also increasing.

While scientists and medical practitioners are yet looking for the cure and some government officials are taking advantage of the situation by robbing people’s money, there is one good idea coming from this SM brilliant guy to keep away the people from getting bored while staying

at home – fun and entertainment experience while  observing physical distancing inside your car in a parking area of the mall. (I will not recommend it to those who do not own vehicles and will have to hire a meter taxi or trisikad just to be entertained. It will be very expensive and worrisome on your part –LDT).

Movie lovers from this Kapampangan province watched at the comfort of their parked cars at the designated parking lot during the premier launching of SM Cinema’s Drive-in at the Mall’s Amphitheatre, considered to be pioneering in the country. For a ticket of P400 per person one is entitled to one bottled water,, a regular sized popcorn and beef franks, and tickets must be purchased individually ahead of time – a day or two through on-line. “A new alternative for a new normal,” a guy neighbor said.

I recommend SM Lanang to also introduce the same here. Instead of going inside the cinema, you can stay in your car and be entertained, but most important you’re safe from getting infected by the virus. Congratulations!

Health Secretary Francisco Duque has been tagged by whistleblowers and high officials of Phi-Health as the “godfather” of the alleged mafia in this government firm.

The Health Secretary denied the accusation and branded the “godfather” tag as “malicious” and “without basis.”

Fifteen former and incumbent officials of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) have been charged with graft and gross misconduct filed by the National Bureau of Investigation before the Office of the Ombudsman. The case, according to reports, stemmed from alleged anomalous printing cost fund of PCSO’s small town lotto program involving more than P837 million for 2017 and 2018. Marami pang korapsyon ang sinisilip sa ibang ahensya ng gobyerno. Diyos ko naman, talagang bang ugali na nating mga Pilipino ang maging magnanakaw!

But if there is really truth to these reports, the Philippine Drugs Enforcement Agency (PDEA) should also do the same of exposing or catching the mother of all crooks in the government and not just the small fish as the drug agency’s favorite punching bag in its drive against illegal Drugs.

On behalf of senior citizens who were tagged as more vulnerable to spreading coronavirus to others from the start of the pandemic and all eyes are on us whenever we’re seen in public places, now we’re no longer alone and the 21-year-old below as well in that tagging.

The World Health Organization (WHO) recently reported that the coronavirus spread was also from people in their 20s, 30s and 40s and it was concerned that the proportion of younger people infected are increasing globally. “The epidemic is changing,” WHO Western Pacific

regional director, Takeshi Kasai told people in a virtual briefing. “People in their 20s, 30s and 40s are increasingly driving the spread in densely populated areas with weak health services.”

While I’m hoping that there is no truth to this latest finding, finally we, the elderly sector and the 21-year-old below are now vindicated from some sectors that singled us earlier as spreaders of the pandemic. Stay safe everyone!
