Three firearms buried by guerrillas recovered

THE SOLDIERS under the 10th Infantry Division recovered three firearms at Sitio Bayong, Barangay Taytayan, Cateel, in Davao Oriental on June 7.

The 701st Infantry Brigade, together with the 67th Infantry Battalion, Davao Oriental Police Provincial Office, 2nd Davao Oriental Police Mobile Force Company, and other Intelligence units launched a joint intelligence operation after alias Beno, a member of Baking squad, Regional Operations Command, revealed the location of the three firearms composed of two AK-47 rifles and one caliber .357 pistol.

According to Brig. Gen. Oliver C. Maquiling, the commander of 701st Infantry Brigade, alias Beno surrendered to the government forces on May 1. 

Likewise, he was tasked by Danny Juit, former secretary of Sub-Regional Committee 1, who was killed in an encounter on April 26, 2021, to bury the firearms intended for the recovery efforts of their lost mass base in the area.

Maj. Gen. Nolasco A. Mempin, commander of the 10ID, lauded the accomplishment of the 701st Infantry Brigade.

 “We do not let our enemies recover even a single inch of our cleared areas. Rest assured that we will continue to hunt them down together with their firearms, war materiel, and resources,” Mempin added. 

From Jan. 1, 2022, to date, a total of 206 firearms were recovered by the Agila Division. Of the total, 182 were high-powered and 24 were low-powered firearms.
