TEU: Almost 100% of vehicular incidents are due to human error

THE DAVAO City Police Office Traffic Enforcement Unit (TEU) revealed that 98% of vehicle crashes and collisions are due to human error.

Police Major Dexter Domingo, Traffic Enforcement Unit (TEU) chief, disclosed during the AFP-PNP briefing at The Royal Mandaya Hotel on Sept. 13 that incidents usually occur between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. (14%) or 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. (13%).

From January to August this year, the traffic unit recorded 3,997 road crash incidents in the city, representing a 20% increase compared to 2022 figures.

According to Domingo, of the 7,008 vehicles involved in incidents, 34% were private vehicles, 15% were motorcycles, and 10% were trucks.

Moreover, the high-risk areas include Carlos P. Garcia, MacArthur Highway, JP Laurel Avenue, Quimpo Boulevard, and Panacan.

Meanwhile, he said they continue to monitor the traffic situation, along with the City Transport Management and Traffic Office (CTTMO), especially as the classes already started.
