Teams arrive today for Kadayawan Invit’l hoop

The four participating teams for the 2019 Kadayawan Invitational basketball tournament are set to arrive today in separate schedules.

Two teams from the UAAP – De La Salle Green Archers and the National University Bulldogs along with the Southwestern University Phinma Cobras and the University of the Visayas Green Lancers of the CESAFI are timely to arrive for the scheduled tournament which tips off on August 11, Sunday at the Davao City Recreation Center (Almendras gym).

The Southwestern University Phinma Cobras will arrive early at 5:50 a.m. while the National University Bulldogs are set to be in the city by 9 a.m. For the De La Salle Green Archers, they are expected by 12 noon while the University of the Visayas Green Lancers are at 3:30 p.m.

The coaches meeting and tournament briefing to be handled by tournament commissioner Miguel Solitaria and SBP-XI regional operations head Ronnel Leuterio will be on Sunday, April 11 at 12 noon to be followed by the opening ceremonies at 4 p.m. Gametime is set at 5 p.m. on Sunday, April 12.
The four-day tournament presented by the City Government of Davao, the Royal Mandaya Hotel, Matina Enclaves and the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) Region XI chapter will play in a single round robin elimination with the top two teams on to the winner-take-all finals. Lower seeded teams will play for third.

This year’s champion team will be receiving P100,000 while the first runner-up will get P60,000. The second and third runners-up will bring home P40,000 and P30,000, respectively.

The best coach and most valuable player (MVP) of the tournament will be receiving P5,000 each.

Mayor Inday Sara Duterte-Carpio and Vice Mayor Sebastian Duterte, Congressman Pulong Duterte along with SBP-XI regional director Glen Escandor and SBP regional commissioner Atty. Francis Calatrava are expected to grace the opening rites highlighting the traditional ceremonial tip off.
