Team formed to solve ex-government employee’s murder

A SPECIAL team was formed to investigate and bring to justice the perpetrators behind the murder of a former government employee inside her house in Deca Homes in Talomo on Friday last week.

On Monday, the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) announced the creation of Task Force Oplan Siyasat, dedicated to conducting an in-depth investigation into the murder of 57-year-old Lillian Nieva, whose body was found sprawled on the floor by her own brother.

DCPO chief Col Alberto Lupaz will lead the task force, which also counts the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) XI and Regional Anti-Cyber Crime Unit XI as members.

In an interview on Monday, DCPO spokesperson Captain Hazel Tuazon said, the task force will hopefully result in “the fast resolution of the case.”

Moreover, Tuazon said they have already a lead on a suspect but declined to divulge further details to prevent compromising the investigation.

But a meeting is scheduled on Tuesday, Oct. 3, for the presentation of the report.

The victim succumbed to 44 stab wounds in various parts of his body. She lived alone and her worried brother came to check on her after she failed to answer his phone calls. Accordingly, the victim’s iPhone 12 and assorted jewelry pieces were missing.
