The City Council approved on third and final reading the ordinance to exempt from the payment of amusement tax on the proceeds of a “Dinner for A Cause” to benefit the House of Hope (HoH) Foundation for Kids with Cancer, Inc.
The ordinance, authored by Councilor Edgar Ibuyan, chair of the committee on games, was approved on second reading in yesterday’s session of the City Council.
The legal basis for the ordinance was Sec. 59 of the 2005 Revenue Code of Davao City providing for an exemption of amusement tax to charitable, educational, or religious institutions or associations.
The petition addressed to Ibuyan was signed by Cheryl Leilani M. Gomez, fundraising manager of the House of Hope Foundation for Kids with Cancer, Inc. regarding the event scheduled on Aug. 15 at 6 p.m. in the Davao Convention and Trade Center.
The proceeds of the activity will benefit the cancer patients housed at the cancer facility.
To date, 2,700 patients have benefited from the House of Hope.
The HoH is still calling the public to support the cause.
Tickets are available at P2,000 up to P18,000 for a table for 10.
