BARANGAY Tamayong chair Cresente Canada voluntarily surrendered his 21 licensed firearms to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group Region XI (CIDG XI) at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 25.
Lt. Col. Bernard E. Pagaduan and Major Edgardo Bahan received the firearms from Canada.
In a post on social media, Lawyer Israelito Torreon said the move only proved that Canada and the leaders of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ The Name Above Every Name have no intention of resorting to violence to achieve their goals.
While Canada held a valid license for gun collecting, he opted to entrust his firearms to authorities to dispel rumors that he was using them to protect Pastor Apollo C. Quiboloy.
Pastor Quiboloy’s five weapons were previously surrendered on May 2, 2024, but 14 of his weapons have already been sold, the police said.
Aside from Canada and Pastor Quiboloy, co-accused Jackielyn W. Roy, Paulene Canada, Ingrid C. Canada, and Sylvia Cemañes are also wanted based on the arrest warrant issued by Pasig RTC Branch 159 for trafficking in persons.
