- Sara accuses administration of political harassment, alleges cover-up
VICE PRESIDENT Sara Duterte ramped up her verbal onslaught against the Marcos administration, accusing officials of orchestrating systemic political harassment and character assassination against its opponents.
In a media interview in Zamboanga City on May 3, Duterte alleged a consistent pattern of diversionary tactics, asserting that the administration resorts to targeting political rivals whenever faced with public scrutiny.
Duterte cited several instances, including the timing of her impeachment talks coinciding with questions about the blank budget allocations, and the alleged kidnapping of former President Rodrigo Duterte following the emergence of a US police report linking First Lady Liza Marcos to a drug overdose incident.
“Sinabi ko na Wala Nang ibang ginawa ang administration na eto kundi pamumulitika lang at paninira sa mga kalaban nila sa pulitika,” Duterte said in a media interview.
“Napansin ninyo noong lumabas ang malaking issue sa mga blanko sa budget at marami nagtatanong at nagsasabi na unconstitutional yung budget tinanong kung paano naging legal yung pagamit nila ng pera eh puro blanko yung nasa loob ng budget lumabas yung impeachment ko,” she said.
She also pointed to the abrupt termination of the government’s May 1 rice sale program and the subsequent complaint against her brother, Congressman Paolo Duterte, as evidence of this alleged strategy.
She specifically highlighted the US police report, referencing the presence of First Lady Liza Marcos’s name in a hotel room where a suspected drug overdose occurred, and the discovery of “white powder substances” believed to be cocaine.
“Tapos noong nagkaroon ng malaking krimen sa Estados Unidos na merong namatay dahil sa drug overdose makikita nyo doon sa police report nandoon ang pangalan ni first lady Liza Marcos na isa sa mga tao doon sa loob ng kwarto kung saan yung tao ay nag overdose sa suspected drug overdose sa hotel doon at ang daming nakikitang white powder substance na sinabi doon sa police report ay suspected cocaine din ay bigla nilang kinidnap, kinuha si Pangulong Duterte,” she added.
“Yung lumabas naman yung kanilang May 1 bente pesos na kilo ng bigas at syempre dahil hindi naman totoo yung pangako na yun pambobola lang naman yun sa mga tao hindi nila kayang i-sustain ay tinigil agad ng May 2 at lumabas naman yung complaint kuno kay Congressman Paolo Duterte,”she further said.
“Nakikita nyo na basta merong nangyari na kagagawan ng administration ang ginagawa nila ay sinisira nila ang kanilang kalaban sa pulitika para matabunan yung totoong issue ng bayan (You can see that whenever the administration is involved in something, they destroy their political opponents to cover up the real issues of the country),” Duterte asserted.
