SUSPENDED Davao del Norte Governor Edwin Jubahib refused to vacate the Tahanan ng Gobernador (Governor’s Residence) following a request from acting governor De Carlo Uy.
In a letter dated May 29, Uy requested Jubahib to leave the residence by May 31 to accommodate national officials attending the Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair (Public Service Fair) from June 6 to 8. The fair coincides with the end of Jubahib’s 60-day suspension.
Uy cited logistical reasons for the request, explaining the residence would serve as a “holding room and convergence point” for visiting national leaders. Jubahib, however, responded the same day, expressing support for the fair while refusing to vacate.
“I will be staying in the Tahanan ng Gobernador,” Jubahib said, “which by law is designated as the official residence of the elected governor, but I will personally accommodate all visiting national leaders participating in the service caravan.”
Jubahib’s suspension originated from a complaint filed by board member Orly Amit, whose vehicle was recalled by the governor. The vehicle was returned 30 days later.
