SSS-Davao records P56-B in uncollected contributions in 2023

THE SOCIAL Security System (SSS) Davao recorded P56 billion in uncollected contributions from delinquent employers in 2023, a 39% decrease from P92 billion in 2022.

During the Kapihan forum on April 5, Geneva Shaula Virrey, SSS-Mindanao South 1 Division acting senior communications analyst, said the decrease is attributed to their enforcement of the Run After Contribution Evaders (RACE) campaign.

“We regularly conduct this kind of campaign as the management has seen positive outcomes in our collections. From the previous year, we only conducted RACE two to three times per year, but now we do it at least two times quarterly,” Virrey said.

The RACE campaign involves giving notices to delinquent employers, reminding them of their failure to pay their employees’ monthly contributions. The businesses are given 15 days to settle their obligations.

Alnora Presbitero, SSS-Davao branch head, stressed that legal action also awaits these employers.

“If they fail to submit their remittances, we will be referring them for legal action,” Presbitero said.

She said they already filed cases in court with the 2,422 errant employers last year and continuously forward legal findings of cases. She added that three in the eight RACE visits resulted in compliance.

The RACE program covers areas from Toril City, Digos City, Davao City, Panabo City, Tagum City, Bislig, and Mati City.
