THE DAVAO City Police Office-Traffic Enforcement Unit (DCPO-TEU) issued tickets to 72 violators after strengthening its enforcement of the New Speed Limit Ordinance on Tuesday, April 15.
The operation, dubbed “Oplan Kalsada,” specifically targeted violations of City Ordinance 0270-23 series of 2023, which sets speed limits within Davao City.
TEU personnel, led by Senior Master Sergeant Marlou P. Zozobrado and under the supervision of Major Jose Rodrigo B Mendoza, the unit’s assistant chief, conducted a pre-deployment briefing at 6:30 a.m. before flagging motorists along the national highway in Dumoy, Toril.
The New Speed Limit Ordinance carries a P1,000 fine for the first offense, P2,000 for the second violation, and P5,000 if the motorists repeats the same offense thrice. Violators must settle their obligations with the city within seven days to avoid paying another P500 as penalty.
Authorities emphasized that the operation aims to enhance road safety and reduce the risk of speed-related accidents within the city. The activity concluded at approximately 11:35 a.m., with no untoward incidents reported.
Meanwhile, the DCPO-TEU reiterated its commitment to consistently implement traffic laws and ordinances to ensure the safety and well-being of all road users in Davao City.
