Slapping a general

  • Baste blasts PRO XI director over 3-minute response policy

MAYOR Sebastian Duterte threatened to assault Police Regional Office XI director Brig Gen Nicolas Torre III over the latter’s “three-minute response time” policy.

“He’s been here for a month, what has he accomplished with his 3-minute response? Has anything changed? Does he want us to expect that after a few months because of what he said will be done, then show us, maybe you’re good at it,” the mayor said in Basta Dabawenyo Program on Sunday, July 28.

“I want to slap this guy. If I see him, I’ll slap him. I swear, I’ll really slap this guy. It’s one of my ambitions in life… to slap a general,” he said.

The mayor had blamed the PRO XI director for his alleged criticisms of the city’s peace and order and the relief of 19 police station commanders.

However, the police credited the three-minute response time policy for the foiled robbery attempt on July 27. Reportedly, responding law enforcers arrived at the scene, which scared off the would-be perpetrators.

The policy, previously implemented during his tenure as Quezon City Police District commander, is being piloted in Davao City with plans for region-wide adoption. Torre envisions the 3MRT becoming standard practice for PRO XI personnel, contributing to both crime prevention and swift resolution.
