Security sector treated to night of music and fun

THE CITY’S security and safety sector showcased their musical talents during the cluster night at Rizal Park on Wednesday as part of the Araw ng Dabaw festivities.

Six bands from the National Bureau of Investigation XI, 10th Infantry (Agila) Division, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology XI, Philippine National Police XI, Police Regional Office XI, Eastern Mindanao Command, and the Davao City Police Office gave electric musical performances before a crowd of fellow security and safety personnel and the crowd.

In his speech, Public Safety and Security Office (PSSO) chief Angel Sumagaysay thanked all personnel from the Army, Navy, Air Force, police, and other law enforcement agencies for their service and unwavering dedication to sustain peace and order.

“You are the instruments that blend harmoniously to maintain the peace and order of our city. It is due to your efforts that Davao City, for the longest time, never had any armed confrontation in its urban center and rural hinterlands, which resulted in our steady economic progress in investors and tourism,” Sumagaysay said.

According to Sumagaysay, the concert aims to give back to the security and safety personnel through “a language we all understand.” He said it also aims to be a platform by which the security and safety cluster can “de-stress and strengthen their camaraderie.”

The concert was also attended by EastMinCom Deputy Commander BGen Consolito Yecla, Task Force Davao Commander Col. Darren Comia, City Transport and Traffic Management Office Dionisio Abude, DCPO Spokesperson Capt. Hazel Tuazon, City Disaster Risk and Reduction Management Office head Alfredo Baloran, and other public officials.
