Sec. Magno thanks Taojo family for donating land for Navy’s use

PRESIDENTIAL Assistant for Eastern Mindanao Leo Magno thanked the Taojo family in Sitio Batiano, Barangay Lawigan, Mati City for donating a parcel of land as the new forward operating base of the Philippine Navy.

Magno also urged the public to do their share in the protection and preservation of the country’s territorial integrity amidst reports of encroachment by a foreign government.

“This truly shows that hand in hand with the national government, the majority of the Filipinos are doing their share and contribution in the fight against terrorism, criminality, and even threats from outside the country,” Magno said in his speech at an event at the Philippine Navy Naval Installation Command in Panacan on Sept. 11.

“Hence I am grateful for people like you who come to our aid voluntarily. Who see that the future of the Philippines does not rely solely on the government but on the citizenry as well,” Magno added.

He also thanked the Philippine Navy and the entire Armed Forces of the Philippines for their service in ensuring the protection of the people and the preservation of the territories from any form of threats.

“All your efforts are for our children, the future generation, the future of the Philippines. As a father myself, I can relate to you. Lahat ho gagawin natin para mabigyan ng mapayapa at malayang bansa ang ating mga anak. Always remember that your sacrifices will not be put to waste. The Filipino people will always be grateful to you,” Magno said.

The secretary said that the new forward operating base of the Philippine Navy in the City of Mati is essential in the internal security operations in Eastern Mindanao.

“This forward operating base will also strengthen our security measures especially that Mati is a coastal city. It is a strategic area wherein our Philippine Navy can carry out its functions and duties for the improvement of our national security as well as achieving a peaceful Philippines,” said Magno.

Magno vowed to personally keep tabs with the AFP on their forwarding base plan so that it would be prioritized under the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.
