NOT ONLY is he the devoted husband of Ruby Jane and a doting father to his four children, but Doctor Don M. Tinasas is a person to admire if not emulate.
The 44-year-old medical practitioner is a dedicated visual artist, sculptor, and full-time doctor specializing in internal medicine. Besides his medical career, he is also a licensed aeronautics pilot.
And despite being extremely busy, he is also a professor at JMC Medical School and holds the position of chief of clinics at Davao de Oro Provincial Hospital-Pantukan,
We really wonder how he finds time to rest, but we learn from his wife, Ruby, that Doc Don turns to art as a means of relaxation and self-expression. Doc Don has had no formal training in art and is a self-taught contemporary/epoxy clay artist who has held several solo and group exhibits.
His art involves combining clay sculptures and dry brush techniques with metallic undertones. His favorite themes involve luck and prosperity art which is shown by his Hidden Buddha Series and Dragon Series. He is also fond of creating portraits in clay form inspired by his patients from the provinces as seen in his Dabawenyo Series. His art serves as a memento of his life as a doctor.
Dr. Don M. Tinasas was born in Davao City and belongs to the art group GaMa or Grupo ng mga aktibong Mindanawon artists.
He graduated in medicine from the Davao Medical School Foundation and Internal Medicine Residency training at Brokenshire Hospital. Dr. Tinasas is married to a pharmacist, Ruby Jane Baroy Tinasas, with whom he has four children. He has successfully curated two hospital art exhibits at MDMRC and Davao Occidental General Hospital.
So, when a chance came for an art show at La Herencia Davao, he did not hesitate to take the lead.
Doc Don Tinasas curated the Araw Ng Davao Art Exhibit which opened at La Herencia on March 16 and ends on March 31, 2024, with participating artists Don Tinasas, Dr. Yan Cuezon, Dr. Donna Abarquez, Rolando Cortez Pino-on, Jing Cayacay Rabat, Ba Noi, Elviz Goloran, Pinta de Baryo, Jojo Jimenez, Christine Lagura, Royroy G, Rene B. Milan, D-Lorah Macabitas, Yana Tinasas, Jeya Cue and Jamedith Abuan.
