On March 31, 2020, the golfers gathered to repack relief goods at the clubhouse. More than two hundred displaced caddies had nowhere to turn when the Covid 19 virus hit the country, where they worked at Rancho Palos Verdes in Mandug, Cabantian in Davao City. The community quarantine took its effect on this particular informal labor sector and their families had no other source of income.

Feeling compassion for the families of the caddies, members of the Davao Eagle Masters, headed by its President, Leo Magno, initiated the fund raising for the caddies. The Pomelo Foundation released Php100,000.00 so they could purchase goods. Johnson Ng, Joey Mempin and Jiggs Calixto donated canned goods and noodles. Additional cash was given by the Cochero – Borakuys and Davao Eagle Masters for distribution to the caddies who received the goods and cash on April 01, 2020.

Tomas Jose S. Inigo, who is a member of this golfers group says “We hope and pray that everything will soon be back to normal for these caddies.”
