VICE PRESIDENTIAL candidate Sara Duterte has endorsed the candidacy of reelectionist Senator Joel “Tesdaman” Villanueva.”
The endorsement of Duterte, mayor of Davao City, comes even if Villanueva is not included in the senatorial slate of her running mate, presidential candidate Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
Duterte said Villanueva is among her few friends running for a Senate seat as she vouched for his track record, including the laws that he passed for job generation.
“I also have friends who are running for senator, who, whether it is political season or not, are still my friends [like] Joel Villanueva,” Duterte said during her speech Tuesday night at the kickoff rally of the UniTeam at the Philippine Arena.
Duterte added that Villanueva deserves to return to the Senate because of the good things that he has done for the country.
Villanueva was grateful for the support and trust of the mayor, daughter of President Rodrigo R. Duterte.
Another vice presidential candidate, Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III also expressed his support for Villanueva’s candidacy.
Sotto pointed out that Villanueava has a clear program to provide employment and livelihood for every Filipino.
Even before the campaign, Villanueva was included in the senatorial lineups of other slates including those of Senator Panfilo Lacson and Sotto, Vice President Maria Leonora Robredo and Senator Francis Pangilinan, Senator Emmanuel Pacquiao and Rep. Lito Atienza, and Mayor Isko Moreno and Dr. Willy Ong.
Villanueva said he was not able to attend any of the proclamation rallies of the groups supporting his candidacy because of a very important invitation.
However, Villanueva also launched his campaign for reelection through social media which was virtually attended by everyone, including those outside of the country.
During the event, he detailed his work in the Senate as he assured the public that if he gets reelected, he would work hard just like any ordinary employee of the Upper Chamber of Congress.
He said his goal in seeking a return to the Senate is to continue creating laws that will result in livelihood, capacity building and employment for all Filipinos. PR
