Roxas Avenue temporarily closed for Eid al-Adha on June 6

THE CITY Transport and Traffic Management Office on Monday announced a temporary closure of Roxas Avenue on June 6, Friday.

There will be a regulated no-entry in Roxas Avenue, specifically the corner of Claveria Street to the corner of Artiaga Street, on June 6 from 12 a.m. to 9 a.m.

This is to give way for the Muslim community to join the centralized Eid al-Adha Congregational Prayer.

A portion of Roxas Avenue fronting the Post Office will be closed as a parking area for vehicles of the attendees.

Pamikiren Latip Arumpac Jr., acting chairman and deputy mayor of the Bangsa Iranun, requested the temporary closure to the 20th city council, and it was approved on May 27.

Malacanañg on May 21 declared June 6 as a regular holiday throughout the country in observance of Eid al-Adha, one of the two greatest feasts of Islam.

“Following the 1446 Hijrah Islamic Lunar Calendar, the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos has recommended that 06 June 2025, Friday, be declared a national holiday, in observance of Eid’l Adha,” the proclamation reads.

Eid al-Adha or the Feast of Sacrifice is a major holiday celebrated by Muslims worldwide for three to four days.
