WE whole-heartedly congratulate P/Brig. Gen. Michael John Dubria for his upward movement in assignment effective next week. P/BGen Dubria is, until the effectivity of his transfer, the Police Regional Director of Central Mindanao (Region 12) based in General Santos City.
There is no doubt that he must have performed exceptionally well during his entire stint in that region, probably more than what he had done when he was Davao City Police director. Had he not, he would not have been considered for an assignment with larger responsibilities and national in scope.
Yes, we were informed by some of his trusted men while he was in Davao that Dubria is moved to the Police National Headquarters to head the Directorate for Intelligence of the PNP. Our wish then was that he will be re-assigned to the Police Regional Office XI as director. Our wish did not materialize but we are happy that the good general gets what could be much more than many expect. His promotion in responsibilities is one assurance that very soon one more star will fall and lands on his shoulder. Meaning, in the very, very near future P/BGen. Dubria will move up to become a P/Maj. General. According to his trusted men, he has still three more years to serve the PNP before the mandatory retirement age. And that length of time is more than enough for one police official to do his best and earn whatever is or are left in the ladder up to the highest policeman’s rank. Indeed good deeds pay and the Davao resident police official is reaping his due.
In the same vein we are also congratulating another officer, P/Brig. Gen. Alexander Tagum who is replacing Dubria in Region 12. Like his predecessor Tagum was also once a director of the PNP- Davao police office. He was also moved to the national headquarters and became head of the Constabulary Highway Patrol Group. Now he is in Region 12.

We are actually not finished with our congratulatory messages. This time we are extending our felicitations to the Ateneo de Davao University (ADDU). The Davao City-based school is included in the list of the top 687 rankings of the best universities and colleges in the whole of Asia this year based on the assessment of Quacquarelli Symonds (QS). Four other Mindanao-based educational institutions also made it in the same list. These are the Mindanao State University, Iligan State Institute of Technology, Xavier University and the Central Mindanao University. Ateneo is within the 501st to 550th of the list.
The Jesuit administrators of the school must have all the reasons to be happy these days. Imagine, of the thousands of universities and colleges all over the continent the school made it to the top 687! Congratulations to Fr. Joel Tabora, the school’s President. But of course such achievement is a collegial one. Backing up Fr. Tabora in attaining the school’s feat are its faculty and non-teaching employees. So are the students who do their best to make the school and themselves worthy of the honor.

Why are the supporters of Mayor Inday Sara so insistent in pushing her to run for President? They should think much deeper of what a Sara run could result to. The likelihood is that she could end up losing miserably. What if Bongbong Marcos would not also withdraw, or is not disqualified? Sara will only be left with her prospective voters from Mindanao and part of the Visayas. Definitely Marcos will gobble up the northern Luzon votes as what had happened in previous elections where the regionalistic nature of Ilocano voters showed.
Thus, the Sara-run “pushers” will end up pushing the Davao City mayor to perdition. Think again ladies and gentlemen.
