Road closures 

  • Motorists asked to take alternate routes during Pasko Fiesta activities 

 

THE CITY Transport and Traffic Management Office announced road closures of several streets in the city for Pasko Fiesta 2024 activities.

The San Pedro Square is partially closed to allow for the ingress of Banda Dasig, Mugna ug Parada sa Pasko from 1 a.m. on Dec. 12 to midnight on Dec. 15.

The corner of C.M. Recto Street and Roxas Avenue, near Marco Polo side, is also partially closed from 1 a.m. on Dec. 14-15. 

Additionally, a full road closure will be implemented on Dec. 15 at San Pedro Square, covering C.M. Recto Street at the corner of Roxas Avenue to Bonifacio Street, Iñigo Street, San Pedro Street, Bonifacio Rotunda, and Quimpo Boulevard.

The public is advised not to park in Roxas Ave. (CM Recto Ave.- Ponciano Rotonda); C.M. Recto Ave. (San Pedro St.- Roxas Ave.); Bonifacio St. (CM Recto Ave.- Iñigo St.); Iñigo St. (Bonifacio St.- San Pedro St.); and San Pedro St. (CM Recto Ave.- Iñigo St.) to avoid congestion.

The closure will start on Sunday at 8 a.m. and will reopen once the last contingent of the parade has passed.

The Banda Dasig route starts from Roxas Ave. left turn to CM Recto Ave., right turn to Bonifacio St. Left turn to Iñigo St., left turn to San Pedro St. towards San Pedro Square for the full performance. 

Councilor Conrado Baluran assured that there will be enough personnel from CTTMO to man the streets considering last year’s Pasko Fiesta’s traffic gridlock. The City Tourism Operations Office released on Wednesday the official list of contingents for the Banda Dasig – drum & lyre and marching band performances.

The elementary school-based category has 28 contingents, while the open category has 16 contingents.
