The composer of the ‘budots’ track that comebacking senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. used as his campaign jingle in the midterm election is seeking due credit.
In a Facebook post on Tuesday, Sherwin Calumpang Tuna said Revilla used his music mix without any permission.
In his campaign video that became viral during the campaign period, the award-winning actor danced to the budots mix that originated in Davao a few years back.
The senator, charged but later cleared in a plunder case over a multi-million fund scam, has secured a spot in the magic 12 in the partial and unofficial results as of press time.
Some analysts attributed the inclusion of Revilla to the magic circle to his campaign videos that went viral online. Since then, the action star dubbed as the Titanic Star has been tagged as the Budots King by netizens.
Tuna said he was “proud” for his music became part of Revilla’s successful campaign.
“Congrats po sa panalo mo,” Tuna said.
Tuna said he made the track for the dance group Camus Girls who popularized the dance move. The video became viral on social media.
The mixer said he is not asking compensation for himself but for the members of the Camus Girls.
“With all (due) respect Sir Senator, hope you can give compensation to the Camus Girls,” Tuna said in the post.
The members of the Camus Girls, he said, are still studying.
“Hope they can use (the compensation) in their schooling,” Tuna said. “Just a token to make them smile.”
