Swimmer finds 18-year-old’s body in Talomo River
A BARANGAY responder’s body was found at Talomo River in Wellspring Highlands Phase 3, Catalunan Pequeño, on Tuesday afternoon, June 6.
Major Catherine Dela Rey, Davao City Police Office spokesperson, identified him as Cleven Joseph Rabuya, 18, single, and a resident of Km. 12, Catalunan Pequeño.
In an interview on Wednesday, Dela Rey said the victim was positively identified by his father.
According to the report, Rabuya was found by an individual who went swimming in the river. He was caught by a rock, which prevented the current from sweeping him downstream. He then called the purok leader for assistance.
Moreover, the witness said that he and his friends did not find the body earlier, even if they were already swimming the day before. There were no CCTV cameras installed in the surrounding area.
Dela Rey quoted the father as saying that his son asked permission to go to Tagum City on May 27 but failed to return since.
As of this writing, Dela Rey said the Baliok Police Station is still conducting a follow-up investigation into the incident.
His remains were brought to Villa-Gan Funeral Homes and Services at GTH Toril for autopsy and funeral service.
