- Police say slain suspect fought back during buy-bust
AN ALLEGED drug suspect was killed and more than P500,000 worth of shabu was recovered in a buy-bust conducted by elements of the Ma-a Police Station in Midland Village, Barangay Ma-a, at around 9 p.m. on Tuesday, March 12.
Police only identified the suspect as alias Bentong, of legal age, and wore a black t-shirt and multi-colored short pants during the incident.
According to Captain Hazel Tuazon, spokesperson of Davao City Police Office (DCPO), the suspect sold a sachet of shabu to a police poseur-buyer in exchange for P14,000.
However, the suspect allegedly drew his gun and fired at the officers when they declared arrest. The arresting team immediately returned fire.
The suspect was rushed to the Southern Philippine Medical Center (SPMC) but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.
The Davao City Forensic Unit, led by PSMS Lorenzo M. Dayon Jr., recovered one .38 revolver without a serial number, along with three fired cartridge cases and two live bullets. They also found two pieces of cartridge cases from a 9mm pistol.
Moreover, authorities seized another five sachets of shabu from the suspect weighing 30 grams and estimated to cost P540,000.
The police also conducted a paraffin test on the suspect at the SPMC morgue to confirm that he fired the gun.
