THE CITY Health Tropical Disease Prevention and Control Unit has urged residents to ensure that they will not get infected by dengue..
Last week, Elizabeth Banzon, coordinator of the unit, said there is a need for residents to make sure they adopt measures like the 4 o’clock habit as the number of cases during the first seven months hit 957.
The 4 o’clock habit is a habit is a habit designed to help destroy mosquito breeding practices like stagnant water containers and other similar areas.
Banzon said the number of cases during the same period last year was a bit lower at 926 even as there were only five deaths reported this year to seven last year.
The five cases were from Agdao Centro, Bucana, Matina Aplaya, Sasa, and Matina Pangi.
“We are encouraging everybody nga kung mahimo nga naa gyud sila’y segregation sa ilahang panimalay para dili magkalat tung pwede ma-breedingan,” Banzon said.
She also reiterated that parents should not make their children wear dark clothes because these can attract mosquitos.
Meanwhile, amid the rising cases, the CHO continues its misting and fogging operations, soaking curtains and mosquito nets and also the conduct of surveillance for possible mosquito breeding sites.
