The Davao Police Regional Office said there are no recorded cases of threats and encounters between government troops and the New People’s Army (NPA). The region remains insurgency free.
Maj. Catherine Dela Rey, PRO XI spokesperson, said “since the declaration of Davao Region as insurgency free, we no longer have a record for skirmishes or any encounter with the enemy,”
During the AFP PNP Press briefing held at the Royal Mandaya Hotel, on Wednesday, March 7. she said that the PRO XI will continue to maintain order in the region, especially among the indigenous youth to prevent them from NPA recruitment.
“The pledge of the Police Regional Office XI is not to pull out the revitalized place in the areas that we have reclaimed. They are teaching the youth who are there…We are also enhancing activities in those areas, so that they can see that there is a government that will help them,” the spokesperson said.
Recently, Vice President Sara Duterte recognized the efforts of the Joint Regional Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (ELCAC) to protect and maintain peace and order in the region.
The Vice President also led the awarding of the National Task Force-ELCAC Gawad Parangal, given to agencies for their outstanding contribution to ending armed conflict in the Davao Region.
On October 12, 2022, the Regional Peace and Order Council or RPOC declared Davao Region as insurgency free.
