Project turned over to Laak community

GOVERNMENT instrumentalities turned over a general merchandise project to the Inakayan Sustainable Livelihood project (SLP) Association of Brgy. Inakayan, Laak, on Feb. 16.

Second Lieutenant Axelle Joyce Quijano, Civil-Military Operations Officer of the 60th Infantry Battalion, said the project was a product of the sustainable livelihood project of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) under Executive Order No. 70 of former President Rodrigo R. Duterte.

The implementation of the project, which is expected to provide sustainable source of income for the members of the association, was a partnership among the DSWD, the military unit, and the local government units in Davao de Oro.

Quijano the village was among the 21 communities in Laak that were identified for the project.

Lt. Col. Merrill C. Sumalinog, commanding officer of the military unit, thanked the association for ensuring that the project be managed better, prompting the government to turn over to the association the remaining fund for the project.

Sumalinog also lauded the local government units for their support of the project.

“This also aims to maintain the consistent delivery of basic services and the establishment of lasting peace and order in the community,” he added.
