PRO XI warns station chiefs

The Davao Police Regional Office reminded station commanders to abide by the standard operating procedures when handling detainees inside the precincts.

The reminder came after the controversy generated by the Argao, Cebu police chief who was arrested by the Integrity Monitoring Enforcement Group in an entrapment operation last March 5.

He was caught in the act of allowing a female detainee to sleep inside his air-conditioned room.

Maj. Ildefonso Miranda Jr., 46, is facing a charge for violating Republic Act No. 3019 or the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act, direct bribery, and Art. 156 of the Revised Penal Code.

Miranda didn’t deny the charges, but claimed that he fell in love with the detainee.

Also last March 7, the deputy police chief of Norzagaray in Bulacan was arrested for using a detainee as his personal driver.

The PNP-IMEG identified the police deputy chief of Norzagaray police as Capt. Wilfredo Dizon Jr.

Maj. Eudisan Gultiano, the spokesperson of PRO XI, said in a text message that “it is prohibited to utilize detainees as a personal driver or personal errand boy of the police.”
