The eight focus crimes in the region decreased during the election week, based on the data monitoring of the Regional Investigation and Detection Management Division.
The crimes monitored are murder, homicide, physical injuries, rape, robbery, theft, car theft, and motorcycle theft.
According to the Police Regional Office XI data, there were only 31 incidents from May 12-19 compared to the 44 incidents from May 6-12.
Physical injury incidents dropped from eight to six, rape cases were down from five to four, theft decreased from 12 to six, and one incident of motorcycle theft from the four cases the preceding week.
The police also recorded zero incident for homicide and car theft, while the number of robbery and murder cases remained the same.
Brig. Gen. Marcelo C. Morales, regional police director, directed all units to intensify the security plan to ensure a peaceful and fair election.
Morales also emphasized that the oversight committee they established helped check the crime statistics and also the progress of the station commanders in the region.
“I made sure that I, and the rest of the command group, will be informed of what’s going on in the field so that whatever issues and problems are, we can rectify immediately and we can look at solutions,” he said.
“We are experiencing a significant reduction in eight focused crimes not only because of the ongoing crackdown against all forms of criminalities but also due to the continuing strict enforcement of city and municipal ordinances,” he said.
