THE POLICE Regional Office XI destroyed 31 unserviceable firearms during a ceremonial event held at its headquarters on Friday, April 25.

PRO XI regional director Brigadier General Leon Victor Rosete said the destroyed firearms included M16 and M14 rifles, AK-47s, Garand rifles, carbines, shotguns, grenade launchers, and a pistol. These weapons were either recovered, surrendered, or turned over, and were no longer fit for use.

“These firearms were once used to instill fear and violence. Their destruction today sends a strong message of our ongoing efforts to combat crime and promote lasting peace in our communities,” he said.

The event was attended by key partners from the Department of the Interior and Local Government, the National Police Commission, and the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

He said the activity showed growing public support for the government’s peace initiatives, a key goal of Philippine National Police Director General Rommel Francisco Marbil.

“With the May 2025 national and local elections approaching, PRO XI remains committed to ensuring peaceful, honest, and orderly elections across the region,” he said.
