  • Over 12,000 security personnel to secure Davao Region for May elections

By Rhoda Grace B Saron

THE POLICE Regional Office XI and the Army will deploy 12,000 law enforcers across Davao Region to ensure the safe and orderly conduct of the May 2025 mid-term elections.

The police personnel started going to their respective assignments on Wednesday, April 30.

According to PRO XI spokesperson Major Catherine Dela Rey, a contingent of around 500 Davao personnel and 41 maritime unit members will serve as a special electoral board in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

“To safeguard the electoral process within the Davao Region itself, a total of 12,168 personnel will be strategically deployed to various areas,” she said.

Dela Rey added that the personnel came from PRO XI and its support units, such as the Special Action Force and the Regional Highway Patrol Unit XI; 1,557 personnel from the 10th Infantry Division; 184 members from the Philippine Coast Guard; and 195 personnel from the Bureau of Fire Protection.

Previously, the PRO XI said that no cities and towns in Davao Region are included in the election hotspots or areas of concern, enough to be listed in the “green” category. In contrast, BARMM has 30 towns classified as “red,” meaning there’s a high likelihood of election-related violence.
