President Marcos lauds achievements of the 4th ID in the fight against CTGs

PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos Jr. (PBBM) commended the accomplishments of the 4th Infantry Division during his visit to their headquarters in Camp Evangelista on Thursday, May 16.

Speaking to troops, PBBM acknowledged their outstanding efforts in neutralizing key leaders and members of the communist terrorist group (CTG) in Northern Mindanao and the Caraga Region.  He highlighted the positive impact of these operations on regional safety and stability.

The President expressed his gratitude to the men and women of the Diamond Division for their unwavering dedication and sacrifices. He recognized their vital role in achieving mission success.

“Your title as the ‘Fightingest’ Division is well-earned,” said PBBM. “Your operations have minimized the impact of terrorist activities, evidenced by the decline in CTG personnel and firearms,” he added.

Highlighting achievements

The  4th Infantry Division’s achievements so far in 2024:15 CTG members neutralized: 11 killed, 1 captured, 3 apprehended, 81 CTG members surrendered, 104 firearms seized.

The recent surrender of a high-ranking CTG leader and 43 members in Bukidnon, along with 41 high-powered firearms.

The visit included a traditional military arrival honors ceremony for PBBM, followed by a situation briefing where the 4th Infantry Division leadership presented their ongoing efforts against security threats.

PBBM reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting the military. He pledged necessary resources and expressed confidence in the troops’ ability to fulfill their duties with honor and excellence.

Uplifting morale and expressing gratitude

The President’s visit aimed to boost troop morale, review the Division’s progress, and assess their operational readiness. He took the opportunity to personally thank the Diamond troopers for their dedication, which has significantly contributed to the government’s efforts to end local communist armed conflict.

“The entire nation is grateful for your sacrifices,” PBBM stated. “I commend the Joint Task Force Diamond for your service and achievements. You have given so much to our country.  This administration remains committed to supporting your well-being and that of your families,” he further said.

Manifesto of commitment and camaraderie

Major General Jose Maria R. Cuerpo II, commander of the 4th Infantry Division, presented PBBM with a manifesto of commitment symbolizing the various units’ dedication to the administration’s goals and programs for a “Bagong Pilipinas.” This gesture also served as a token of appreciation for the President’s leadership.

The event concluded with a traditional military boodle fight, fostering a sense of camaraderie between PBBM and the Diamond Troopers.
