THE DAVAO Light and Power Company said the overall residential electricity rate decreased by P2.8 per kilowatt hour (kWh) this June.
According to the advisory released on June 18, DLPC noted that the rate went down to P7.94/kWh from P10.76/kWh in May.
“This came after the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) order (Case No. 2024-017 MC) that mandates all distribution utilities to collect generation charges from the May billing of the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM) on a staggered basis, divided equally from June 2024 to September 2024,” the statement reads.
However, DLPC said residential consumers might expect an increase over the next three months from generation rates, as WESM charges were paid on a staggered basis.
DLPC also urged customers to manage their energy consumption wisely to avoid future bill shocks.
Fermin Edillon, DLPC Reputation Enhancement Department head, stressed in an interview that the increasing demand of electricity will lead to higher power rates.
